Serato Icon Artist Series features DJ Premier.

If there’s ever a Hip Hop Hall of Fame building that houses the history of hip hop founders, leaders and architects that helped build a movement into a culture, then this DJ, producer and entrepreneur should be located there.

DJ Premier captivated the ears, hearts and souls of music fans with an onomatopoeia drum sound called Boom Bap, which he marinated with soulful productions and complicated rhythmic scratches that enhanced the rappers philosophical rhymes. His list of classic songs is to long list. Even today, more than two decades after he helped produce Nas’ first classic album, “Illmatic”, rappers still line up to work with this hip hop genius.
