A turntablist is a person that converts record players or turntables into instruments. They are sound engineers. They’re manipulators of rhythms, tempos and beats. They design flawed frequencies that enter your cerebral cortex to tell you its music that you hear.
The hip-hop, trap and dubstep battle DJ, Rupesh aka DJ Skip, is no different from any turntablist that wants to transform an already made record into a complicated mix that most will enjoy. DJ Skip, a native of India, has made a name for himself traveling and showcasing his skills in multiple DJ competitions.
DJ Skip won India’s national championship at the Redbull’s Thre3Style contest in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, competing with the best DJs in the world at the IDA World DJ Championship, DJ Skip took third place. But what sets this young and up-and-coming superstar apart is his ability to create a new path for the trap and dubstep genre that has now captivated many to enjoy his music.
